History Of Spider Man!

As most of you may or may not know, Spiderman made his first appearance s in 1962 An Amazing Fantasy 15. Now I’m not gonna go into detail on Spiderman’s origin, as I’m sure most of you guys know it already.

So let me give you the short and sweet version. Boy gets bit by Radioactive Spider. Boy gets super strange, he can stick on walls. Boy learns the hard way. With great power comes great responsibility.

However, something most of you probably don’t know is how Spiderman was created. But never fear. It’s actually a really cool story. After Stan Lee’s success with characters like Fantastic Four in The Hulk, Stan wanted to keep that train going and pump out another superhero.

So he told his publisher at the time, Martin Goodman, about a character idea he had, which of course was Spiderman. After telling Martin Goodman about the idea, Goodman thought Stan was crazy.

Some people hate spiders. You can’t do a book called Spiderman, and on top of that, you want him to be a teenager, which at the time teenagers were only really sidekicks. So it was unusual for that era.

Stan Lee also wanted Spidy to have money problems , just like an ordinary teenager, which Mr. Goodman also was not fond of.

Goodman eventually agreed to let Stan Lee try out Spiderman in the upcoming final issue of the canceled science fiction and supernatural anthology series Amazing Adult Fantasy, which was later renamed Amazing Fantasy for its final issue.

Months later, Goodman reviewed the sales figures for that issue, and I was flabbergasted to find out that Spiderman was one of Marvel’s highest-selling comics.

This, of course, led to Spiderman getting his own solo series in March of 1963 in the title The Amazing Spiderman, which just got canceled a few months ago and replaced with a superior Spiderman title, which I’m actually enjoying a lot.

I just really wish they wouldn’t have gotten rid of the title completely. I mean, renumbered or something. Just don’t trash it completely. That’s like getting rid of a title like Action comics. You would never do that. And if you did, you’d be absolutely crazy.

Let’s just hope they smarten up and bring The Amazing Spiderman title back, which I do think they will bring it back when they undoubtedly bring Peter Parker back from the dead and put him back in the spicy suit where he belongs.

Also, I’m calling it now they’re going to put Peter Parker back in the Web spandex around the release of The Amazing Spiderman two film. Just wait. You’ll see.

Something important to the Webheads history, which only huge Spiderman fans would know is how Spiderman Peter Parker’s parents died.

Everyone knows they died and he was raised by his Uncle Ben and in May. But not many people know how his parents died and how he ended up living with his aunt in his late uncle.

Which real quick for those of you who don’t know, Uncle Ben was gunned down by a crook who Peter had a chance to stop but didn’t. As for his parents, Richard and Mary Parker’s death, a detailed origin was revealed for them in the 1997 comment called Untold Tales of Spider-Man Minus 1.

We learned that his parents worked for Colonel Nick Fury for the CIA and were killed overseas in a plane crash as Us government spies.

Although the comic stated on the cover that Richard and Mary were agents of Shield, the actual story never mentions that they’re part of Marvel Universe’s most prominent spy agency.

Spider-Man Love

Eventhough Spiderman’s life is all gloom and doom dealing with death. He actually has a pretty steamy love life as well. Spidy has had three main love interests over the years. Let’s check them out.

Gwen Stacy

The first one being Gwen Stacy, which Green Goblin caused Spiderman to accidentally kill Gwenn while trying to save her.

Green Goblin threw off a bridge, Spider-Man went to save her with his web, but with the whiplash from the sudden stop of the fall, it broke her neck, and saying that allow it makes you realize how bad that actually is. That’s a bad day.

Felicia Hardy

There’s also Felicia Hardy, aka Black Hat. Peter realized he had feelings for after she was seriously wounded in a fight with Doc OC. After she recovered, they began a relationship, and soon after Peter revealed his identity to her.

Felicia had a hard time accepting the fact that Peter was just a man beneath the mask and couldn’t understand his need for civilian life. Peter was hurt but continued the relationship since it was the first time he did not need to hide his life a Spiderman from someone.

Mary Jane Watson

And Lastly, you have Mary Jane, probably his most famous love interest. Peter Parker and mary Jane would eventually go on to get married in The Amazing Spiderman Annual 21.

Years later, though, this would be undone in The Amazing Spiderman 545, where the character Mephisto made it to where not only Peter Parker never married Mary Jane, but he also raised half of all of Spiderman’s continuity we’ve had since the titles debut in 1963.

Which also led to the horrible storyline or at least I think brand New Day where Spiderman Peter Parker basically started from a fresh slate, and I don’t even want to get started on that story or just know I did not think it was good.

Spider-Man villains

Now that we got the Wall Callers love life out of the way. Let’s talk about some villains. Because Let’s face it if there were no villains, superheroes couldn’t exist.

In my humble opinion, I think Besides Batman, Spiderman has the best rose Gallery. It’s one of the most extensive Rose galleries, for sure, and most of the villains are really creative and just playing cool.

For the sake of time, I can’t go into too much depth with his villains. So for now, I’m just going to brief you on some of his most notable ones.

Green Goblin

You have this arch-nemesis, the Green Goblin, who’s the equivalent of what the Joker is to Batman. There Goblin is Norman Osborn, the father of Harry Osborne, whose Peter Parker’s best friend, Harry Osborne, would also eventually take up the role of Green Goblin after his father’s death in Amazing Spiderman 136. But as we all know, no one in comics really stays dead. So eventually Norman Osborn would come back and take up the Green Goblin mantle once again.

Venom

Then you have my favorite Spiderman villain, Venom, which is where Spiderman’s Black Custom originated from. As he used the alien symbiote, which he didn’t know at the time was a symbiote as his new costume in Secret Wars issue eight due to his original one being damaged in combat.

Little did he know, though it would eventually try to turn him evil, so he got rid of it. In Web of Spiderman, issue one, Eddie Brock would eventually find the symbiote and of course, become Venom.

Dr. Otto Octavius

There’s Dr. Otto Octavius, or just Doc Ock. Who has four large tentacles that he can control with his mind as well as being a genius. He’s also currently Spiderman in the comics in the new title Superior Spiderman.

Then you also have Scorpion, Rhino, Electro, Craven, Sandman Carnage, Kingpin, Lizard, Shocker, Tarantula, Hydroman, Morbius, Vulture, Mysterio, Hobgoblin, Doppelganger, Tombstone, Jackal, and the list goes on and on. Hence extensive Rogues Gallery.
